Operating in a ~25 Square Mile area, Brickford City Fire Rescue is a 24/7/365 Fire Department with full-time coverage, with some volunteer, per-diem, and paid on call staff. The Department is split into 4 unique districts (or battalions). Each district covers a unique area of the city, has it's own color scheme, and a unique set of call signs. Each district may also have it's own specialty vehicles, such as ARFF, Marine, and Wildland. BCFR Staff train constantly and are always engaging in community outreach events...the crazy color schemes are a big hit!
The call sign system as mentioned previously is rather unique and prevents confusion at large emergency scenes. The call sign system is broken down to 3 digits. The first digit indicates the district.
1 = South
2 = East
3 = North
4 = West
The second digit indicates apparatus type.
The third digit indicates the company number.
111 would be South District | Engine | One
Mutual Aid:
All 4 Districts can respond anywhere within another district if needed.
